Trussed Issues! Thanksgiving AND Chanukah sneaking up on us!

Pulling It All Together:
Thanksgiving at the Low-carb Cook's Nook!

OK, Low-carbers, does your holiday planning have you running around like a chicken

with its head cut off?

Let's Talk Turkey and pull our menu all together!

The last two weeks, we covered side dishes, desserts, appetizers and our focus this week will be on the "Trimmings," and the turkey itself, plus leftovers and anything you might've missed. I'm guessing that you already know how to make a turkey

but just in case....(if you don't, try Butterball: Home for the Holidays, there is also a How-to video clip of Stuffing and Trussing a Turkey)

To add to the HECTIC pace of the holidays, Chanukah comes very early this year: December 2nd through the 10th! There is no chat next week (it's Thanksgiving) so if you need recipes for latkes or related Chanukah foods, ask away tomorrow night!

Week 1: Planning Your Low-carb Thanksgiving!

Time to plan Thanksgiving at the Low-carb Cooks' Nook!

We have three weeks to figure out what we're going to do for Thanksgiving!

Some low-carbers say, "To heck with low-carbing, this is Thanksgiving,"
but too many have found that they go off the wagon for that one day, which stretches into weeks, and it's not till January that they can get back on track
and by then, they've gained ten lbs.
Isn't there a way to make your traditional Thanksgiving in a low- carb way?
YES, THERE IS!

At this week's chat,

we'll start planning our Low-carb Thanksgiving menus and share recipes for side dishes, stuffing, vegetables, and the like.

The 2nd week (Nov. 11), we will cover desserts.

The 3rd week (Nov. 18), we'll pull it all together with the extras: gravies, cranberry sauces, and the turkey itself.

There will be no chat on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25th.. that's when you get to enjoy the (low-carb) fruits of your labors!
Hope to see you tomorrow night at the first of this Thanksgiving Series!

Oktoberfest in the Low-carb Cook

Brats Are Welcome!
Come Celebrate Oktoberfest in the Low-carb Cook's Nook...
No matter how you slice-n-dice it, Oktoberfest is a FOOD-oriented holiday!
The traditional foods are sturdy, heavy, German, fall-harvest foods ~ sausages and brats of all types, hams, sauerkraut, chicken-on-a-spit, cabbage, potatoes, rich dairy like German cheeses and heavy cream, strudels and chocolate desserts "mitt schlag" (with heavy whipped cream!), and of course, German beers and wines

Can you do it low-carb? OF COURSE!
Most of what's on that list is totally LC, and the items that aren't,
there are LC ways around it, if you're willing to cook!
So join us this Thursday night, when we make the Best of the Wurst!
The emphasis will not be solely German food, but pork in general and side dishes that go well with it.
